The Community Development public counter is now open to the public, with modified hours and additional safety measures.

Modified counter hours: Monday - Friday 8am to 12pm (noon), and by appointment only from 1pm to 4pm.

Applicants with large submittals are encouraged to call ahead and schedule and appointment. To schedule an appointment, please contact Justin Poley at 949-248-3575 or via email at jpoley@danapoint.org, or contact your planner directly.

Temporary Outdoor Operations Permit

The City of Dana Point has developed a permit process to allow restaurants to establish outdoor seating in support of providing a safe, clean environment for workers and customers in compliance with State COVID-19 Industry Guidance.  Please see the application below for more details.

The Planning Division of the Community Development Department provides the citizens of Dana Point with an array of current and advanced planning services. Primary responsibilities of the Planning Division include the review of private and public development projects in conformance with established policy and regulations and the administration and update of the City’s General Plan, assuring that it reflects community values and state statutes.  Advanced planning projects include the Town Center Plan and the City's General Plan and Zoning Code update programs. Planning also carries out the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the California Coastal Act, and the Subdivision Map Act. The Planning Division is directly responsible for providing staff support to the City’s Planning Commission.
