Doheny Village

On July 20, 2021, the City Council adopted the Doheny Village Zoning Code Update(PDF, 570KB), which involves modifications to the City’s General Plan Land Use Element and inclusion of a new chapter in the Dana Point Municipal Code, Chapter 9.14 Doheny Village Districts. Extensive public outreach was conducted for the effort that included input from residents, business owners, and the Doheny Village Merchants’ Association. The Doheny Village Plan was adopted with unanimous support from elected officials and community stakeholders.

The California Coastal Commission (CCC) approved the Doheny Village Plan at its February 9, 2023, meeting (LCPA 5-DPT-21-0059-5) certifying an amendment to modify and add provisions to the Land Use Element of the General Plan and to the Zoning Code, both of which are components of the City of Dana Point Local Coastal Program (LCP). The stated purpose of the amendment is to preserve and enhance the eclectic combination of commercial, light industrial, and residential mixed uses in the Doheny Village area.
