I want to adopt a pet. What do I do and how much does it cost?
To adopt a new pet, the first step would be to visit the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter. The front desk at the Animal Shelter will assist with the procedure and paperwork involved in the adoption.
Dogs cost $125
Puppies 4 months and under cost $150
Cats cost $100
Kittens 4 months and under cost $150
Rabbits cost $45
Adoption fees for other small pets vary. An adoption application must be completed prior to adopting any animal.
Do I need a pet license, and how do I get one?
Pet owners are required to obtain a dog license when the pet is 4 months of age.

I lost my pet, what can I do?
Call and visit your local animal shelter (949) 492-1617.
I was bitten, what should I do?
Seek appropriate medical attention as necessary. Contact the shelter at (949) 492-1617.
Get the correct address where the animal lives so that Animal Services may quarantine the pet.
Call us immediately if the dog is still running loose.
I found a stray dog, what should I do?
Please contact the shelter to make arrangements for the dog to be picked up.
