The City of Dana Point has adopted of a five-district, by district method of election system and sequence for City Council elections. The vote held during the May 15, 2018 City Council meeting changes the city’s current at-large election process to a by-district method of election. The Tan VI map was adopted by the City Council, and can be viewed as an interactive map for residents to better understand which district they are in.

Background on District Elections
The City of Dana Point currently uses an at-large election system in which all voters in the City have the opportunity to vote for candidates for all five seats on the City Council. At the February 6, 2018 City Council Meeting, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 18-02-20-04 declaring its intent to consider a transition to district-based elections in response to RDM’s letter.
