Festival of Whales Parade
"40 Years of Magical Migration"

Location: Pacific Coast Highway from Selva Road south to Golden Lantern

The Festival of Whales Parade kicks off the annual Festival of Whales Event which occurs the first two weekends in March and offers a variety of activities.  To view a complete listing of Festival of Whales activities visit www.festivalofwhales.com.  The parade begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. with a route along Pacific Coast Highway south from Selva Road to Golden Lantern in Dana Point.  Parade entrants are encouraged to embrace the Festival's theme of "40 Years of Magical Migration" when designing parade floats and costumes. Awards will be given to the Best Display of Parade Theme, Best Musical Unit, Best Youth Group, Best Group Spirit and Best Local Entry.  Parade entry applications are currently being accepted.  To inquire about entering the parade, sponsoring a giant helium parade balloon or other parade questions, please contact Sherry Murphy at the City of Dana Point (949) 248-3533 or smurphy@danapoint.org.  To download a parade entry, click here.  Parade entry applications are due by 5:00 pm on Friday, February 18, 2011.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the animated movie “Shark Tale.” Free popcorn!

The parade will be on the air starting Tuesday March 9, 2011 at 3 pm.  It will run every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3pm on Cox Cable channel 855 (digital tier) and Channel 30 (analog).
