Scott Schoeffel - Council Member
Scott Schoeffel is a Southern California native and has been a Dana Point resident since 1983. Elected to the City Council in November 2008, Scott assumed office on December 2, 2008. Scott previously served on the Dana Point Planning Commission for close to 12 years and has served as the Commission Chairman multiple times.
Scott graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Biological Sciences. He was awarded a J.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) where he was a member of Ecology Law Quarterly. He has been a member of the State Bar of California since December, 1980.
Scott has over 28 years of experience as a health care, real estate, land use and business lawyer. Currently he is senior vice president and general counsel of a publicly traded company that owns and operates four Orange County hospitals.
On a personal note, Scott is an avid tennis player, mountain biker and sailor. He also loves to write music and is part of the leadership of a national effort to support and promote music education in the public schools. On most days he can be found prowling the City's Dog Fun Zones with his three Jack Russell terriers, Benny, Mickey and Audrey.
