The City of Dana Point manages a citywide contract for street sweeping services. Street sweeping occurs once per week on all public streets in Dana Point. Street sweeping has been proven as an effective way to prevent street pollutants from entering our Dana Point storm drains, watersheds, and beaches. The streets sweeper also helps keep our streets and gutters looking great! The street sweeper removes anywhere between 45 and 80 tons of dirt and debris from Dana Point streets each month. Without a street sweeping program, these pollutants would enter the storm drain and end up directly at the beach, affecting the quality of our ocean water.
We need your help! There are designated areas in the City that have restricted parking during street sweeping hours. It is very important that all Dana Point residents move their cars out of the street on street sweeping day so that the sweeper can sweep the entire street without weaving in between parked cars. Please find out when your street gets swept either by looking at the maps below. You must have Acrobat Reader to view attachments. Increase the font/map size by changing the percentage of the view size.
Street sweeping, and trash collection, does not occur on the following designated holidays:
New Year's Day
On weeks when a holiday occurs, the street sweeper will attempt to sweep as many areas of the City using the normal schedule. However, with trash cans interfering with the street sweeper's ability to reach the curb, your street may not be swept during these weeks, as adjustments are made. The City also tries to accomplish special projects during these periods to be sure our street sweeper is fully-utilized to keep our City clean.
