The City of Dana Point Building and Safety Division is currently working on the development of an online permitting system. In the interim, some permits are available as a “Mail In Permit”.
To process a “Mail In Permit”, download an application, E-mail or fax the application, along with any required forms and documentation to the Development Services Counter technician, who will calculate your fees and process the permit. The Development Service Counter is open from:
- 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Thursday and
- 7:30am to 4:30pm on Fridays
The following permits are available as a “Mail In Permit”
- Water Heater Replacements (PDF) - This is a Like for Like installation only. Due to the gas consumption and venting requirements, an instantaneous tankless water heater (PDF) is not a direct replacement for a tank type heater.
- Dishwasher installation Permit
- Furnace Replacements
The City of Dana Point does accept Master Card and Visa credit cards only.
Your permit application must be accompanied by a check for the correct amount, as calculated by the counter staff, and the proper documentation and verification forms. Mail in permit applications using credit cards are processed only after the credit card transaction is processed by the cashier.
