John Tomlinson - Council Member
John’s family has resided in Dana Point since the 1960’s. John and his wife Lori moved to Dana Point in 2005. They are very proud parents of their twin daughter and son. John is a volunteer director for several profit and non-profit organizations. He has owned his own property management company, Tomlinson Management, Inc., since 1999.
First elected to the City Council in November 2014, John assumed office on December 2, 2014. He served as the City's Mayor in 2016.
John is a member of the Vestry of his Church, as well as a reader, and Eucharist Minister. He also enjoys being a regional referee for AYSO. He raises Lowline Angus cattle in Northern Idaho and participates in Regional and National Stock Shows. His champion bull, FT Sir Constantine (named in honor of a colleague and good friend battling ALS), was declared the 2015 Fullblood Angus Lowline National Champion at Western National Stock Show in Denver.
John graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Geography. He earned a Juris Doctor from Western State University in 1994, and a Master in Business Administration from Chapman University in 1999.
