Mayor Diane L. Harkey

Diane, a Dana Point resident since 1980, was actively involved in the community prior to cityhood in 1989. Appointed by the County to the Capistrano Beach Design Review Board, she worked for Dana Point’s incorporation, and served as President of the Capistrano Beach Community Association. Over the years, Diane has advocated for numerous efforts relating to the Lantern Village, Monarch Beach, Capistrano Beach, merchants, and overall community. Diane retains membership in various organizations such as: The Sand Dollar Guild, Capistrano Valley Symphony, Dana Point/Capistrano Beach Historical Society, LVA, and Chamber of Commerce.
As Mayor, Diane will encourage Dana Point to become more involved on a regional level with issues crossing jurisdictional boundaries, allowing the city to maximize resources and enhance results. Ocean water quality, transportation, and joint-use recreational projects are a high priority.
Diane, holds a BA in Economics from UCI and began her career with Bank of America in the 1970’s, as a VP in Corporate as well as Real Estate Finance. Married to Dan for 24 years, they have one daughter, Jaclyn, a Senior at USC.
