City of Dana Point Business of the Month January 2016
In 1968, cousins Chris and Stefano came to the United States from Greece and started working in the family business: restaurants, until they were able to save $9,000 so that they could open their first restaurant together. For the past 47 years they have owned and operated 27 successful restaurants in Southern California. Chris and Stefano always want their restaurants to be personable and have personality so that anyone who walks in their door feel at home.
With the friendly environment of Dana Point, when the opportunity came up for them to buy Casanova, located at 33585 Del Obispo St., in 2012 it seemed to be the perfect fit for what they always envision for their restaurants. Not only was the restaurant a perfect fit, but so was Dana Point, as it reminds the cousins of their town in Greece right by the water.
For the past three years Casonova has blossomed and while still holding on to that friendly neighborhood restaurant feeling, it has become a destination restaurant attracting people from all over the country. The most popular items include the burrata plate, cioppino alla venezana as well as the shrimp fra diavolo. Everyday Casanova is packed during happy hour from 3:30-6:00pm with many familiar faces as well as many new faces.
Giving back to the community that they enjoy so much is important to Chris and Stefano. Because of this they proudly support the Ark of San Juan, Dana Hills High School, and help to provide meals for the Twilight Dinners at the Dana Point Senior Center.
